2026 October Update: Great is Thy Faithfulness

30 Year Celebration 

Usually October can be relatively quiet. It's consolidation time, when we continue to dig deeper so that the new generation of students have foundations that won't be moved when the storms come. This year, however, it has been filled with even more things! We had our 30 year celebration, celebrating FOCUS's 30th anniversary. Alumni from all over the cou
ntry came into town to revisit old friends, reminisce over old memories, and appreciate all that God has done here. It has been amazing to watch as year after year, God has been so faithful to our ministry. In terms of students coming and joining and growing this little part of the kingdom, but also the generosity of donors like you who have chosen to invest and believe in the work God is doing here.

Student Ministry

Our students continue to reach out and be bold. What never ceases to amaze me is how God turns our plans upside down and we're given so much that we needed that we never knew we needed. We show up expecting to get an education, to get a good job, to have a good salary. Instead, God gives us even more, friends and community, a heart for service and others, and skills that will lead those in our workplaces and future families. I have one student leader who only attended small group last year, missed out on one-on-ones and large group, but started catching the vision towards the end of the year. Seeing his growth over the summer, we offered him a leadership position. Sometimes we feel confident and sometimes we go out on a limb with people, because God doesn't work on our school year timetable all the time. And watching him catch more and more of the vision, of friendship, of generosity, of college ministry has been a joy to have a front-row seat. 

Sermons

Over my time in ministry, I've spread my time around with discipleship ministry, pastor development, teaching classes, preaching, and worship leading and training. Recently, even more of my time has been devoted to preaching at the Grove and at church. If you'd like to hear what I've been preaching on you can go here and here. Thank you all for your generosity. It's because of your belief in me and what God is doing that allows me to do what I do and see what God is doing here. It's because of your generosity that I was able to go to seminary, fall in love more deeply with God, and guide others in that. It has been a growing 16 years in this campus ministry, and I hope for many more!
